Burning Bright by Shinedown is what I deem the OFFICIAL start of my Rock n' Roll Rebel series, even though it's the fourth painting in the series (Read my previous blogs for more explanation if you want to) but anyway. Burning Bright is my all time favorite song, ever. For years I listened to this song and thought "I really need to paint this" finally one day as I was listening to the song the image popped into my head and I finally sat down and painted it. I wanted to pull out all the stops for this one as it's my favorite song and Shinedown is one of my favorite bands. The background is fully inspired by the album cover, from the tree and colors for the sky. The inside of the cover has a bit of a purple hue so her dress is purple, her eye makeup and lipstick is gold like the shinedown logo, I incorporated all the lyrics to the song. The figure itself is eminating shadows on one side and eminating light on the other side to go with the lyrics as well. As I said Burning Bright is my favorite song of all time so it was an amazing feeling to finally get this painted.
I've also had the pleasure of seeing Shinedown in concert, multiple times, front row and not front row too lol, and I've had the pleasure of meeting them as well. I've actually met Brent, the vocalist, a few times. At one of the shows I was front row and before, I believe it's "Unity" Brent asks you to turn to the person next to you and shake their hand. I was at this concert with my sister so we, being the weirdos we are did this weird hand shake thing into a chest bump type thing, I don't know we're weird but I noticed that Zack Meyers, the guitarist was watching us and he laughed and came over and shook my hand. He didn't go to anyone else before or after, he just came to us. So I guess he liked that we were weirdos haha. Another time I was in the back of the crowd and Brent before one of the songs comes all the way out into the audience and sings, I forgot what song it is honestly, through different parts of the arena, which is super cool of him by the way. But when he came out into the crowd he stopped next to me, shook my hand and said his speech directly next to me. Another time when he did this same thing I was in the back and he stopped next to me and said a small bit of his speech with his hand on my shoulder.....All in all I've seen Shinedown 5 times, three of which were front row. They are amazing live and some of the nicest guys I've met.

"Burning Bright" Shinedown
I feel like there is no need for conversation Some questions are better left without a reason And I would rather reveal myself than my situation Now and then I consider my hesitation The more the light shines through me I pretend to close my eyes The more the dark consumes me I pretend I'm burning, burning bright I wonder if the things I did were just to be different To spare myself of the constant shame of my existence And I would surely redeem myself in my desperation Here and now I'll express my situation The more the light shines through me I pretend to close my eyes The more the dark consumes me I pretend I'm burning bright The more the light shines through me I pretend to close my eyes The more the dark consumes me I pretend I'm burning | There's nothing ever wrong, but nothing's ever right Such a cruel contradiction I know I crossed the line, it's not easy to define I'm born to indecision There's always something new, some path I'm supposed to choose With no particular rhyme or reason The more the light shines through me I pretend to close my eyes The more the dark consumes me I pretend I'm burning bright The more the light shines through me I pretend to close my eyes The more the dark consumes me I pretend I'm burning I feel like there is no need for conversation |
